The Alanya M.A.S. Tour is a full-day excursion designed for those who want to explore the archaeological treasures of Anatolia. Located about an hour’s drive from Alanya, this tour covers 3 to 4 ancient cities from the Hellenistic period as well as a stunning waterfall on the Aksu River. Tourists are picked up from their hotels to begin the journey.
The tour starts in Alanya, with the first stop at the ancient city of Perge, located about 15 km southwest of the city. Once the capital of Pamphylia, Perge was known as one of the most beautiful and wealthy cities of its time. It housed a temple dedicated to Artemis, the goddess of the wilderness, and was the birthplace of the famous mathematician Apollonius. It is also believed to be the place where beer was first made. The city was under Persian control after 546 BC and later taken over by Alexander the Great in 334 BC. Eventually, it became part of the Roman Empire, making it a city influenced by three major civilizations.
The second stop is Aspendos, located about 40 km east of Alanya. Due to its location on a major trade route, Aspendos enjoyed significant economic benefits. Conquered by Alexander the Great in 333 BC, the city remained under Roman rule for centuries. Its most famous landmark, a 15,000-seat theater built during the reign of Marcus Aurelius, is one of the best-preserved ancient theaters in the world and a major tourist attraction.
Next, the tour continues to Side, an important ancient Greek port city known for its role in the olive and slave trade. Its wealth made it a target for invaders. Side was ruled first by the Persians and then by Alexander the Great in 333 BC. The city began to decline in the 4th century due to repeated invasions and natural disasters, and by the 10th century, it was completely abandoned, leaving only its impressive ruins.
Finally, the tour returns to Alanya (about 70 km from Side), and guests are dropped off at their hotels.(Transfers are included within the specified duration)
